About the event

Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Groups will be happening again! We'll start in Denver since the Mercury Cafe is a large space that will allow for distancing. Hope to return to regular gatherings in Boulder and Fort Collins soon. Let's keep Colorado on the leading edge of psychedelic medicine work by coming together in community to learn, share, and grow. Each Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Group starts with an informative topic relevant to research, practice, policy, or activism around psychedelic medicines, followed by open discussion and an opportunity to connect with like-minded others.

For our May 2021 gathering in Denver, we are excited to welcome Lauren (Lilo) Fishbein to engage an interactive discussion around Right Relationship with Drugs and Medicines.  As a community, let's openly explore problematic and non-problematic substance use, addiction, and how these things show up in our lives. At Nowak Society, we hold the belief that substances in themselves are not inherently problematic -- whether cannabis, alcohol, MDMA, LSD, ketamine, GHB, cocaine, or other legal or illegal psychoactives -- and that what matters is our relationships with substances. How we use substances to alter ourselves, why, with what purpose and outcomes? In coming to our own sense of right relationship with substances, we also have to unpack all the personal and cultural baggage we hold around specific substances (psychedelics are not exceptional here!), substance use, and who "drug users" are. This talk is meant for those who want to more deeply explore what “right relationship” means personally for them. Please show up with an open mind and heart and a willingness to honestly evaluate the relationships you have with substance use.

Lauren is a co-founder and Chair of The Nowak Society. Lauren graduated from the Transpersonal Counseling program at Naropa University and is currently a child therapist and family coach. She believes in creating an open mindset about the functionality and healing properties of psychedelics...and she can’t wait to gather as a community to discuss and explore something very near and dear to her heart!

If you have ideas for topics or presentations for these meetup groups or would like to be more involved, please contact us!

For our May gathering at the Mercury Cafe, please follow all local Covid guidelines. We will be UPSTAIRS at the Mercury Cafe. Masks are required indoors anytime you are not seated at your table with food and drink. Please support the Mercury Cafe by making a purchase.
