About the event
Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Groups are happening! Let's keep Colorado on the leading edge of psychedelic medicine work by coming together in community to learn, share, and grow. Each Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Group starts with an informative topic relevant to research, practice, policy, or activism around psychedelic medicines, followed by open discussion and an opportunity to connect with like-minded others.
For September, we are excited to welcome Kuthoomi Castro for an interactive 90 minute workshop to help us explore our ancestral roots through the rainbow condor teachings from the South of the Americas. We will use de-colonial views to explore what it means to be your individual and cultural self, your social responsibility, and how to reignite your sacred heart. We will bring our cognitive learning to a somatic and espiritual experience to integrate and rewrite new narratives. Ancestral cultures have opened up their doors and sacred technologies to help our younger siblings journey back home. We must work beyond the individual to the collective experience of family, culture, and health of our life giving mother, PachaMama.
About Kuthoomi Castro (they/them)
Kuthoomi, 43, is an Indigenous Mestizos Kichwa Two Spirits born and raised in Ecuador. They have been under the apprenticeship of Mama Ines and Taita Luis, medicine elders of the Kuyaloma community of Napo-Ecuador, since 2009. Kuthoomi was invited to be a medicine carrier and lineage holder, Yachak, in 2017. They carry their elders’ heritage with great respect, responsibility and love for their Kichwa tradition. Following their ancestral heritage laid out in the Andes Cosmology, Kuthoomi began their path on “curanderismo” at the age of 12. Ever since, they have worked with earth centered wisdom along with medicine elders from Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru.
Kuthoomi currently lives in Boulder. They were guided by the Bald Eagle Spirit to bring the Rainbow Condor teachings, the Andes Cosmovision, to the north of the Americas. Listening to this vision and their ancestors, Kuthoomi settled in Boulder and has become an ambassador of their cultural heritage in the US. They have been praying and collaborating with indigenous leaders and communities in Colorado for 5 years, and they are a dancer of the Aztec tradition and a member of the Mexica community of Boulder, Tlahuitzcalli. Kuthoomi is an active advocate for re-matriation, indigenous reparations, and social equity. They are part of “The great flight of the Eagle and Condor prophecy.”
Through an indigenous De-colonial and Re-indigenizing lens, Kuthoomi has been guiding people from all walks of life bringing about their intergenerational healing by reconnecting to themselves, expanding their cultural awareness, grieving their ancestral disruption, and repairing the intergenerational colonial harm that impacts everyone in different forms.
In addition, Kuthoomi is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and provides mental health support to the Colorado community through their private online practice, Decolonial Counseling, LLC. Their expertise is in mindfulness based transpersonal counseling, social justice advocacy, cultural awareness, equity and inclusion, trauma and resiliency, sexaulity, LGBTQL++ support, decolonial work, and relationship dynamics.
