About the event

Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Groups are happening!  Let's keep Colorado on the leading edge of psychedelic medicine work by coming together in community to learn, share, and grow. Each Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Group starts with an informative topic relevant to research, practice, policy, or activism around psychedelic medicines, followed by open discussion and an opportunity to connect with like-minded others.

Join us the first Thursday of each month in Denver at Beacon RiNo at a NEW TIME, 6:30pm!  Most months we'll start at 6:30pm with education and discussion with a speaker or panel. By 7:45pm we'll move to networking and socializing with our resident DJs keeping the vibe. Note that we will have chairs for seating for the educational portion of the evening :) Join us for all or part of these special monthly events!

For March, we are excited to welcome our former Chair of the Board, Dylan Rivard, to explore with us "Keeping Animism in Psychedelic Therapy." What does it mean to be in relationship with the living animate forces of the natural world, including the natural medicines we engage with? How do we maintain the animate in our psychedelic therapy work, avoiding the trap of dilluting or sanitizing our relationships with the animate in favor of clinical practice-as-usual? Dylan Rivard, MA, LPC (he/his) was born in the forests of Indiana, and grew up playing in creeks, catching fireflies, and wondering whether or not dragons really did live in the leaves of the trees in his backyard. Raised in a spiritually eclectic household, Dylan developed a lifelong fascination with prayer, ritual, healing, and our connection to the divine and nature. This led him to pursue work in outdoor recreation, psychology, and spirituality, culminating in a MA in Transpersonal Psychotherapy with a Wilderness Therapy focus from Naropa University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado, as well as a Certified Hakomi Therapist. He has trained with the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI), and assisted in the Integrative Psychiatry Institute’s Psychedelic Therapy Certification. He serves as faculty for trainings with both Elemental Psychedelics and The Congregation of Sacred Practices, as well as serving on the board of The Nowak Society; a Colorado based non-profit focused on psychedelic advocacy and public education. With over 10 years of experience in mental health, he now runs his own private practice where he serves clients working through trauma, grief, and spiritual growth. He lives in the foothills of Golden, CO, where he is grateful to share the land with his husband, their animals, and myriad turkeys, deer, and ponderosa pines.

Please note that car parking in the area can be challenging. Folks are encouraged to carpool or use rideshare services as much as possible. Also, consider making an evening of it... Enjoy education and networking early in the evening, and stay 'til 9 or later to dance with us!

Suggested donation of $10 goes toward supporting the work of The Nowak Society. If you have ideas for topics or presentations for these meetup groups or would like to be more involved, please contact us!

Finally, if you have a brochure, flyer or business card you want to display, please bring them! We kindly request that anything advertised is legal and aboveboard, but otherwise we're happy to make space for you to share your offerings with the larger community.
