About the event
Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Groups are happening now in the Pikes Peak Region! Let's keep Colorado on the leading edge of psychedelic medicine work by coming together in community to learn, share, and grow. Each Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Group starts with an informative topic relevant to research, practice, policy, or activism around psychedelic medicines, followed by open discussion and an opportunity to connect with like-minded others.
For our August meetup in Colorado Springs, we are excited to welcome Jill McCormick, JD, MSW, LCSW to share about “Starting a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy practice.” Jill will share her journey from child welfare professional to therapist, to psychedelic-assisted therapy practitioner and what she has learned along the way.
About Jill:
Jill McCormick is an attorney and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years’ experience working in the field of child welfare. She has a private therapy practice in Colorado Springs. Jill is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and has completed training for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. She has developed a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy practice with her prescribing partner, Dr. John Gillis. They have been treating patients as a co-therapy team for the past year. Jill also teaches a class for other therapists to introduce them to the use of psychedelics in the community and how to support clients who are exploring them. In addition, she facilitates a bi-weekly psychedelic integration group for community members. Jill is a graduate of University of Colorado, Boulder, Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, OR and received her Master of Social Work from California State University at Long Beach.
Professionals and interested community members alike are welcome to attend the meetup. The meetup is free, but donations are very appreciated and all go toward supporting the non-profit mission of The Nowak Society. Please be sure to follow all community guidelines at meetup events, including no soliciting for illegal substances or services. Let's keep all of us safe, please!
